A member joins in one place, books in another, pays in a third and hunts for last year’s slides in a fourth. What the member does
A new applicant applies for full membership, uploads their evidence and chooses to pay by Direct Debit over ten months.
They’re told the application is with the assessment panel and how payment will follow the approval process. They don’t fill in a form twice, email anybody or wait to hear whether it arrived.

Joining should be simple for members, without making the membership model simplistic. An application isn’t a checkout: it has eligibility rules, an approval step, sometimes a proposer, and payment timing that follows the association’s process.
However your members are organised
Every association grades differently: by qualification, company size, length of service or something only you do. Your People doesn’t make you pick from a fixed list. You define the grades, name them in your members’ own words and change them when your rules change.
Professional bodies
Graded ladders, post-nominals, continuing professional development (CPD), certificates and public verification, tracked against the member record.
Trade associations
Members are organisations, with their people seated beneath them and fees that follow company size.
Societies and fraternal orders

Billing and payments, connected to the member record
Members can pay by card, Direct Debit or bank transfer. However the money arrives, the payment stays with the invoice and member record, so members and staff can see the same history.
